The Big Picture Event as Part of National Paddling Week

Peter Bojanic from East Coast Outfitters, this years host of the Big Picture, writes:
"I'm writing to update you on The Big Picture last evening. This was our way to recognize National Paddling Week in Canada and the dedication of Nova Scotian paddlers to promoting their sport and its physical, therapeutic and recreational value. The event was run by Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia (CKNS) volunteers, and hosted by East Coast Outfitters (ECO)."

"We had to go with the rain date of Thursday, June 20, 2020 rather than our first date of June 18. Fortunately we were able to reach paddlers and spread the word broadly and rapidly through social media and television coverage early on Tuesday morning."

"Len Wagg has posted one of the photos on Facebook: http://goo.gl/0EbKk and it's being shared around rather actively."

"I haven't had anyone audit my headcount yet but in the photograph I count 50 human powered vehicles. The number of paddlers is:
  • 50 craft
  • + 4 (4 tandem kayaks, each w/ 1 additional paddler)
  • +1 (a canoe w/ 1 additional paddler)
  • +2 (a canoe with 2 additional paddlers)
  • Total: 57 paddlers (and 1 helicopter)"
"Cheers, Peter"
Thanks very much to CKNS and ECO for hosting such a great event.  Pictures turned out fantastic too.

East Coast Outfitters and Len Wagg are supporting local paddling by raising funds for the SCRI Society: The Club – Society, Cultural, Recreation and Inclusion for all- and you can help! Last month ECO and Canoe Kayak Nova Soctia hosted an event called the Big Picture in celebration of National Paddling Week. Len Wagg, one of the region’s premier outdoor aerial photographers, took some fantastic aerial photographs. Prints of one of the most amazing shots from the event are available for sale. All proceeds will go towards getting under-privileged folks on the water.
